My fix -- errr, order! arrived from Shane (High Mountain) today. I ordered some of his Lutz, and it is very nice. These are some of the best sounding sets I've ever heard, with great sustain. Just had to share:

Best,

Michael

Nice! I know the feeling. I'm hitting up Shane for some shortly. They look great.

Similar wood-addiction experience: I was in a ukelele maker's studio last weekend staring at two six-foot tall skids full of Koa Wood. Got the shakes bad!

Michael--I for sure need to run down to Houston and see your wood---err, you!
Tell me, what was the shipping cost like? Are there hefty import/export duties? Substantial bribes for the carrier? Shed some light if you can.

Steve,

Shane shipped the wood via Canada Post. Took about ten days to get here. No duties coming in to the US. Postage worked out to about $5/set to my zip code.

Best,

Michael

Shane has some of the nicest sounding spruce around. I got a billet from him, cut it up and am extremely happy with it.

Thanks, Michael. That's what I'd hoped to hear!

Steve

P.S.--Since we can see the wood in question, could I ask what "grade" that is? It looks nice.

Thanks.Steve Kinnaird38729.5790509259
